When you truly place yourself in the position Geralt is in, whether on Roche's path or Iorveth's path, the soundtracks from this game sometime just make you feel like you'd want to disconnect from the entire search. I remember being on Roche's path my first playthrough, and had to escort a lady named Brigitta towards a river in a forest just outside the ruins of Loc Muinne. And I remember thinking to myself: "Were I in that position, I probably would've never came out of that forest." And truthfully, who would know? Foltest is dead, and you escaped. Why continue on this pointless quest to clear your name? You play as a witcher. You are shunned by society whether you clear your name or not. You are going to be hunted by normal humans for the sheer amusement of some baron, lord or otherwise. Why not stay gone? But, I guess there is something to be gained from salvaging your honor and clearing your name.

The battle against the Crusading Polish were tough. Blood spilled throughout the battle field as the Infidels has closed the distance to the Javelinmen and Ottoman Infantry while the Sipahis and Turkish Horse Archers Distracts the Nobles and Hospitaller Knights with their General. The pilgrims weren't easy to kill either, twas many of them that the line was immediately overwhelmed after first contact. As the men fight with swords and clubs. The enemy general was tricked and thus encircled as the Sipahis charge into them. Alas, The Enemy General was Killed. His death spreads terror into his men. Including the other knights who were Skirmished by Horse Archers and thus after confrontation routed. After all enemy calvalry was routed, it was time to hammer the steel at an anvil. As the infantry line was breaking, the sound of horses and their enemies dying general gave them hope to stand their ground and give all strength that they still have. The hammer has hit the steel, many Infidels were killed, terror spread to many and thus they were routed. Half of our (Turkish) men were killed and gravely injured as no infidels dared to step foot into turkish lands anymore.

I remember one time I was playing as England and had control of most of Europe when the Huns invaded. The smashed through my empire through Poland defeat after defeat after defeat. A line of grey cut across my empire, the sacked smoldering cities they left in their wake. I had been employing a strategy of garissoning the cities with Trebuchetes that would provide cover from the walls while my cavalry would lure the mongold close while sallying out. It was only slowly grinding them down. Finally there was a climactic battle at Silesia. The mongols tried twice to storm the great citadel but they were pushed back each time. I used a veteran group of dismounted feudal knights defending the main gates. They repelled the mongols for the first two battles getting worn down each time. For the final assault it was only 12 of them left. I sent the bulk of the army to the inner keep and the 12 brave knights to the outter walls to inspire the tower crews. As the mongols advanced the group would retreat. Then they were sent to the 2nd walls but as the mongols burst through they caught the group of knights. The fought bravely but were ultimately routed. The knights made it back to the inner keep only 2 in number. But the mongols were badly beaten, only 2 groups of horse archers left. If they could be lured to the walls of the inner keep the remaining archers may be able to rout them. I had no cavalry to lure the mongols in. The only ones fit for the job were the last 2 feudal knights. They bravely accepted their task and sallied out. At first the mongols didn't shoot, they were almost in disbelief but when they realized the knights would not relent they engaged. As soon as the mongols approached the knights were ordered back to the gates. The men cheering them on. They ran through a hail of arrows and were just at the gates when... both were shot down by raining fire arrows, the veteran squad of feudal knights was wiped out entirely. A hush fell over the garrison watching their charred bodies. But then the men snapped out of it and unleashed an unholy volley onto the Mongols who broke and fled. Victory. After 4 devastating defeats the Mongols were stopped at silisia. As the general read the battle report losses were heavy but worth it. And at the end of the report listed Dismounted Feudal Knights, casualties sustained 12 ; casualties inflicted 35 ; casualties healed: 2.

played through this multiple times when it came out and its such an under appreciated game. Not a lot of games have this feeling.
